The Story of Wild Fjord Tours

Wild Fjord Tours was born from the shared dream of two captains, Clay and Logan — longtime friends, teachers turned mariners, and now proud business owners. With over 20 years of combined experience navigating the waters of Resurrection Bay and the Kenai Fjords, they’ve spent their careers learning every current, cove, and creature that make this coastline so extraordinary.
In 2025, they decided it was time to build something of their own — a company that reflects their passion for people, the ocean, and adventure. Together, they dreamed up Wild Fjord Tours: a small, locally owned operation dedicated to offering personal, high-quality experiences that stand apart in Seward’s busy harbor.
Their brand-new, custom-built vessel was designed from the hull up with guests in mind — every seat, window, and feature was carefully chosen for comfort, visibility, and versatility. The result is a boat perfectly suited for exploring the fjords up close — gliding alongside glaciers, spotting wildlife, trekking coastline, and sharing stories that bring Alaska’s wild places to life.
Clay and Logan bring the heart of teachers and the spirit of explorers to every trip — genuinely excited to share their home waters. With Wild Fjord Tours, you’re not just booking another excursion, you’re joining two friends who’ve poured their passion into creating an unforgettable day on the water to show you the very best of Alaska’s wild fjords.
Meet Captain Logan

Ahoy! My name is Logan, and being a boat owner and operator in Seward is truly my dream come true — even if it was an unlikely path that led me here. I grew up in the deserts of New Mexico and near the river country of Kentucky, where I developed a lifelong love for wild places, vast vistas, and big weather. I knew I was meant to live somewhere expansive — a place full of life and adventure.
After earning my degree in Secondary Special Education from the University of Nebraska in 2013, I hopped on a plane to Alaska the very next day. My first hike to Tonsina Point in Seward sealed my fate — I was home. I began teaching at Seward High School and loved the work, but I couldn’t ignore the call of the ocean. I longed to explore the fjords, to understand them and their wildlife, and to share them with others.
That pull led me to spend my summers on the water as a deckhand and naturalist. Over the years, I worked aboard sightseeing boats and water taxis, gaining valuable experience and earning my OUPV 6-Pack License — and later my 50-Ton Masters License. From piloting landing crafts carrying 40+ guests deep into the fjords, to navigating wildlife-rich coves and glacial bays, I’ve spent thousands of hours at the helm— helping visitors make unforgettable memories in Seward’s back yard.
Now, I’m thrilled to return to a smaller, more personal vessel — one that allows me to connect directly with guests and craft an intimate experience on the water. My goal is to share the untamed beauty of Kenai Fjords National Park — from breaching whales to towering glaciers — while ensuring every guest experiences it with comfort, safety, and a richness only this area can provide. Whether it’s your first visit to Alaska or your tenth, I’m excited to welcome you aboard, show you why I fell in love with this place — and why I never left.
Off the water, you’ll find me outdoors adventuring with my wife, Annie, and our daughter, Lucia ( the real first mate of the family) adventuring on our personal boat The Seldom Seen, biking, skiing, or chasing trails with our dogs, Gila and TwoSocks.
See you onboard!
Meet Captain Clay

Hailing from the flatlands of Kansas, I grew up outdoors, but adventure was always calling from the mountains to the West. The first time I set foot in the Rockies as a kid, I knew I belonged somewhere wild. Twenty years later, that calling led me north — to Alaska.
At the time, I was a 4th grade teacher in Kansas City who came to work in Seward for just one summer. By the end of it, I was completely hooked- the mountains, trails, rivers, and ocean full of wildlife and glaciers made the return to Kansas difficult. Once home, I set out to convince my wife, Kylee, that Alaska was where we were meant to be. A few years later, we made the leap.
I started out as a deckhand, learning the ropes on wildlife tour boats and charter fishing vessels. Now, after a decade on the water working for others, Logan and I are building our own custom-designed boat — a dream come true.
Today, I hold a U.S. Coast Guard OUPV license and a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Alongside captaining, I also serve as the handyman and tour concierge for Seward Vacation Stays, the vacation-rental company my wife and I own and operate.
When I’m not out on the water, you’ll likely find me mountain biking, snowboarding, playing racquetball, or exploring Seward’s trails with my wife, Kylee, and our heeler mix, Lulu.
I look forward to sharing the awe of Alaska’s waters with you and yours- creating a personal, comfortable, and unforgettable experience while keeping safety and stewardship at the forefront.
See you on the water!
